Crystal Making

Kia Ora,

Today I'm going to be telling you all about what my class has been learning.

At topic time we have been learning about rocks and minerals. It's is known as Earth science.

Crystals are made with

• Water
• Mineral
• Space
• Time

They need all of these to form.

A crystal is formed when water has dissolved the mineral in a  rock and so over time the mineral would have formed in one big crystal.

So to see how crystals are formed we made crystals.

First we put water and borax powder into a bucket but the water had to be boiling water so that the water could dissolve the borax. We got pipe cleaners and we bended them together to make a bow shape. Then we tied string to the pipe cleaners and then to a pencil. We put the pipe cleaner string thing in the cup and put 3/4 of the solution into the cup.
And waited!

After a week we took them out to see what they looked like and then we decided to take them out of there cups. To get them how we did we cut off the string and washed the crystals the color find of washed out but they still look really cool.
Now we have a big piece of card on a table

Writing learning

Hi Guys,

Today I'm going to be telling you about what I have been learning in writing this term.

We have been learning to write a narrative and change I to The, and to make our sentence descriptive.

We are currently all writing a narrative. A narrative is a another name for a story.

Miss D told us to think of a big problem and then come up with other little problems that would involved around our big problem.

We also had to come up with ideas and put them into a google drawing as if they are sticky notes.

Then we started to write our narrative, my narrative was about a girl named Ana and one day her parents went to the shop and they left her by her self at there house and they never came back.

I tried my hardest to make my narrative descriptive so here is my paragraph that I think I did the best in...

I was sitting nervously in the living room just by myself waiting and waiting for my parents

to come home. The light sun was burning on my back… it had been a long time since I had seen them. I was getting a bit worried.

I hope you like what I have come up with.

Chocolate Metamorphic Rock

Hi Guys,

Today I'm going to be showing and telling you what we have been doing in topic. We have been learning about Earth Science manly about minerals,igneous,sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, they are really interesting to know about. 

This week our main focus was metamorphic rock.Metamorphic rock is rock that have formed by heat and pressure so say when a rock has been heated by the magma under the ground and it has been pushed together by pressure.

So our teacher Miss D wanted to give us a clear idea how metamorphic rock is formed. Miss D came up with the idea that grating chocolate and then put some of the grated chocolate into like a tin foil and then me put pressure on them and waited until they turned in to rock/chocolate button. This was the idea of pressure.

Then we had the idea of heat we put chocolate and chocolate buttons and marshmallows in to a bow and put it into the microwave and waited for it to melt a little then we left it to harden and that's how we got the idea of heat.

Winter Sports

Hi guys,

Today I'm going to be telling you all about our last winter sports game for netball.

Last week I had winter sports with my school, I play netball for the diamonds. We are really good at netball our scored was 25 Nile and The week before the score was 23 Nile. We won every time it was really easy this week we are playing another Hornby team,We didn't end up playing because of the weather.
